Lead Full Stack Software Engineer

Our platform, deployed with over 200 financial entities worldwide, empowers banks, brokerages and hedge funds with cutting-edge trading technology. oneZero's core product features a high-performance trading environment with real-time integrations with some of the world's leading banks and financial institutions.

We are currently looking for a motivated and talented Lead Full Stack Software Engineer to join our Canberra Development team. In this role, you will lead a squad responsible for oneZero's internal operations tooling and customer-facing platforms. You will deliver modern cloud-native web applications using React/TypeScript, .NET, Auth0 authentication, and AWS infrastructure (ECS, ALB, DynamoDB), as well as observability systems that manage hundreds of trading servers across our global client base. You will work collaboratively with a team of highly experienced developers from around the world. A financial background is not required, however, you must be able to learn new concepts quickly and apply them to system design, cloud architecture, and full-stack development.

Lead engineers should expect to spend, on average, around 50% of their time managing their engineering team and 50% on actual coding.

This role is a full-time position in the oneZero Canberra office. Applicants must be based in the Canberra region or be able to relocate.

Required Skills

• At least 5 years of industry experience in C# / .NET development
• At least 2 years of technical management or lead experience
• Strong experience building web applications with modern frameworks (React/TypeScript or equivalent SPA)
• Experience designing and operating cloud-native services on AWS (ECS, ALB, DynamoDB, IAM) or equivalent
• Experience with REST API design and authentication/authorisation patterns (OAuth2/OIDC, JWT)
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar)
• Strong understanding of Object Oriented design principles
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience contributing to employee performance review processes
• Relevant tertiary qualification

Additional Skills

Additional experience in any of the following will be highly regarded.

• Agile methodologies and processes
• Containerisation (Docker) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
• Observability platforms (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar)
• WPF / desktop application development
• Identity providers (Auth0, Okta, or similar) in a multi-tenant SaaS context
• Python scripting and automation
• Trading server administration APIs or forex/CFD brokerage operations
• Fintech, trading infrastructure, or regulated financial services
