We are seeking a Group Manager Safety, Health and Wellbeing to join our People & Culture Division.

The Opportunity

As the Group Manager Safety, Health and Wellbeing you will be responsible for providing leadership and professional expertise to the business in relation to safety, health and wellbeing, with a particular emphasis on driving an interdependent culture, ensuring robust workplace health and safety systems, risk and injury management.

What you'll do

  • Lead in the development and implementation of SH&W Strategies and campaigns that drive an interdependent SH&W culture across the whole of business;
  • Manage and continuously improve the Health & Safety Management System (ISO45001 accredited) to ensure a holistic approach is taken to managing health and safety and reducing risk across the business;
  • Providing specialist advice, coaching/mentoring and guidance to support the EMT, Board, leaders, employees and contractors to enhance SH&W maturity across the business;
  • Leading a team of SH&W professionals to embed a culture of safety, identifying, monitoring and evaluating health and safety issues and developing strategies, in partnership with leaders, and to eliminate or minimize risks to the business to meet the organisation’s risk appetite statements,
  • Ensure workers compensation, continuous improvement and risk treatment planning programs are effective; monitor and advise on legislative compliance and evolving legislative impact.
  • Support leaders across the business promote the wellbeing of our people - their physical and psychological wellbeing;
  • Build on our relationships with partners, service providers and water industry peers to promote SH&W maturity and outcomes consistent with our values.

What you'll need to be successful

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor Degree in SH&W with significant record of achievement in a high-risk industry
  • Lead Auditing and/or Lead Investigator Qualifications with significant experience in conducting workplace safety inspections, investigations and audits
  • Demonstrated leadership capacity - of large teams of SH&W professionals and financial resources to deliver maximum value
  • Extensive and comprehensive knowledge of contemporary WHS and risk management systems, WHS legislation and demonstrated experience in managing Workers Compensation and Injury Management claims
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills. Including demonstrated experience in building and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Track record in continuously improving SH&W management systems including ISO45001

Desirable Criteria

  • Post graduate qualifications in SH&W
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessing
  • High Risk Work Tickets and White Card
  • WorkCover accredited Return to Work Coordinator
