About The Role

The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for delivering accounting, taxation and compliance services across a diverse portfolio of clients. Working closely with the Senior Accountant and Senior Production Manager, you'll progressively develop your technical expertise and professional independence while delivering high-quality work, managing your workflow and building strong client relationships.

Ky Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for a diverse range of clients and business entities.
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, FBT Returns, TPAR Reports and other compliance obligations.
  • Prepare tax reconciliations, workpapers and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with tax planning work and implement agreed tax strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional and responsive communication.
  • Manage your workflow to meet deadlines, budgets and quality standards.
  • Review your own work to ensure accuracy and completeness before submission for review.
  • Identify risks, issues and opportunities and work collaboratively with Senior Accountants and the Senior Production Manager.
  • Utilise Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Reportance and other business systems to deliver efficient client outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support a collaborative team environment.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Australian public practice accounting, with the ability to independently prepare financial statements and income tax returns for a range of business entities.
  • Progressing towards or holding CA or CPA qualifications (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Australian taxation legislation, including BAS, IAS and income tax.
  • Experience using Xero and Microsoft Office, with exposure to MYOB, QuickBooks or Reportance being advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive client relationships.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
  • A proactive approach, strong organisational skills and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • A collaborative mindset and a willingness to contribute to a positive team culture.
