Ochre Strokes is growing, and we are looking for a confident, organised and relationship-focused Engagement and Events Manager to join our team.

This role sits within our Connect division and leads engagement, event and community-facing client projects across the agency. It is a key client-facing role responsible for shaping engagement approaches, managing event delivery, coordinating stakeholders and suppliers, and ensuring projects are delivered with care, cultural integrity and strong project discipline.

This is a role for someone who can move between strategy and delivery -someone who can lead client conversations, manage project scope, timelines and budgets, coordinate people and logistics, and deliver engagement and events that feel considered, respectful and well held.

About the Role

The Engagement and Events Manager will lead the delivery of engagement, event and community-facing client projects across Ochre Strokes.

You will be responsible for managing engagement and event-based projects from brief through to completion, including client relationship management, project scope, timelines, budgets, stakeholder coordination, engagement planning, event logistics, supplier management, internal team coordination and reporting.

This role works directly with clients to understand project objectives, shape engagement approaches, manage delivery requirements and ensure outcomes are achieved in a culturally respectful, professional and well-coordinated way.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Act as the lead client-facing contact for engagement and event-based projects.
• Manage engagement and event projects from brief through to completion.
• Lead client meetings, project updates, planning conversations and delivery discussions.
• Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, deliverables and approvals.
• Develop engagement plans aligned to client objectives, audiences, stakeholders and community needs.
• Lead engagement activities including workshops, forums, gatherings, consultations, briefings, launches and stakeholder sessions.
• Plan and coordinate events, activations, launches, forums, gatherings, conferences, workshops and community engagement activities.
• Manage event logistics including venues, suppliers, permits, catering, travel, accommodation, equipment, signage, registrations and attendee communications.
• Coordinate speakers, MCs, facilitators, performers, Elders, cultural representatives, clients and guests.
• Build and maintain respectful relationships with clients, community representatives, Elders, partners, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Brief internal teams across campaign, content, production, design, communications and PR.
• Manage supplier and contractor coordination.
• Prepare engagement plans, event plans, run sheets, briefing notes, contact lists, reports and project updates.
• Identify risks, budget pressures, scope changes and resourcing needs early.
• Lead post-event and post-engagement reporting, learnings and recommendations.

About You

You will be someone who is highly organised, confident with clients and strong in relationships. You can manage the details without losing sight of the bigger purpose.

You will bring:

• Experience leading client-facing engagement, stakeholder engagement or community engagement activity.
• Experience planning and delivering events, activations, forums, workshops, launches or community engagement activities.
• Strong relationship management and client communication skills.
• Confidence leading engagement conversations with clients and stakeholders.
• Strong project coordination and organisational skills.
• Experience managing project timelines, budgets, suppliers and scope.
• Experience working with clients, stakeholders, suppliers and community groups.
• Understanding of culturally respectful engagement with First Nations communities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities.
• Calm, practical and solutions-focused approach under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours when required for events or engagement activity.

Desirable Experience

It would be deadly if you also have:

• Experience working in or with First Nations organisations, communities or campaigns.
• Experience in a creative agency, communications agency, government, not-for-profit or community engagement environment.
• Experience delivering culturally significant events or community-facing programs.
• Knowledge of media production, content capture or event storytelling.
• Experience using project management systems, shared drives, digital planning tools or event registration platforms.
• Existing supplier, community or stakeholder networks.
• Experience with budget tracking, supplier coordination and event production documentation.

Travel will be required for events, client meetings, community engagement activities and project delivery.
