Our growing Sydney office presents an opportunity to work with a more close-knit team of approximately 5, while retaining access to, and ability to work with, the broader firm.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated Construction Lawyer with approximately 1-3 years PAE to join our Sydney-based construction and major projects team. This role will suit a lawyer who enjoys a mix of front-end construction contracting, security of payment work and construction disputes, and who wants hands-on mentoring from experienced practitioners.

What You Will Work On

  • Front-end construction contract review, advice, negotiation and drafting.
  • Advising on rights and obligations under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999.
  • Assisting with the preparation of adjudication applications, responses and supporting materials.
  • Drafting pleadings, affidavits and correspondence for litigated construction claims.
  • Briefing and liaising with technical construction industry experts.
  • Supporting clients with contract administration, project issues, claims management and dispute strategy.
  • Delegating to, supervising and supporting junior team members where appropriate.

About You

  • A lawyer with approximately 1-3 years post-admission experience, ideally with exposure to construction law, infrastructure, major projects, commercial litigation, contract advisory or disputes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal issues clearly and commercially.
  • Attention to detail, sound judgement and a practical approach to client service.
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys learning, contributing ideas and working closely with principals and colleagues.
  • Construction law experience will be highly regarded, but we also welcome lawyers with related disputes, commercial or contracts experience who are keen to specialise in construction and projects.
