Position Overview

The Financial Accountant will play a pivotal role in supporting the Australian and Singapore finance operations for our fast‑growing digital media agency. This position is responsible for managing day‑to‑day transactional finance processes while also contributing to management reporting, reconciliations, and project‑level financial analysis.

The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail, be highly organised, and possess the ability to work collaboratively with finance colleagues and the client service teams.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable & Billing

  • Prepare and issue client invoices accurately and in a timely manner, in line with contract terms.
  • Maintain accurate billing schedules and track Work in Progress (WIP).
  • Follow up on outstanding debtors in collaboration with the Finance Manager.
  • Work with the client service teams to ensure billing information is accurate and complete.

Accounts Payable

  • Process supplier invoices, ensuring correct coding, GST treatment, and authorisation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier records.
  • Prepare payment runs and reconcile supplier statements.

Month-End Support

  • Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Assist in the preparation of P&L and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support intercompany billing and reconciliation processes.

Reconciliations & Reporting

  • Perform bank and account reconciliations on a regular basis.
  • Maintain schedules for fixed assets, prepayments, and accruals.
  • Assist in producing monthly management reports and variance analysis.

Compliance & Support

  • Assist with BAS preparation and other ATO compliance reporting.
  • Ensure all financial processes comply with internal policies and statutory requirements.
  • Support the Finance Manager with year-end audit and statutory reporting requirements.

Financial Analysis

  • Assist in preparing job-level profitability reports.
  • Help analyse project margins, client performance, and revenue trends.
  • Provide data and insight to support the budgeting and forecasting processes.

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to liaise effectively with finance and non-finance colleagues.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel/GoogleSheets skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic formulas).
  • Familiarity with accounting and ERP systems; exposure to Xero or NetSuite advantageous.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a finance/accounts role, preferably in a professional services or agency environment.
  • Experience with both AP and AR functions.
  • Exposure to month-end accounting and reconciliations.
  • Understanding of Australian GST and basic tax compliance requirements.
