Case Manager – Street to Home

Alice Springs, NT | Full Time | SCHADS Level 4

Many people in Alice Springs are living without a safe or stable place to call home. The Street to Home program walks beside people who are sleeping rough or experiencing deep instability. It offers connection, practical support and a pathway toward hope.

About The Role

This role suits someone who is confident supporting people with complex needs and who feels comfortable working in dynamic, real-world environments. You will walk alongside people experiencing homelessness, trauma, substance use, mental health concerns and long periods of disconnection from services. You will bring a steady, adaptable approach and a genuine commitment to supporting people who may have been let down before.

Most of your work will take place out in the community rather than behind a desk. You will spend time in town camps, along the riverbed and in places where people feel comfortable. Trust grows through consistency, respect and showing up in a way that feels safe for the person you are supporting.

A central part of this role is building strong relationships with Aboriginal people and communities. You will work in a culturally respectful, trauma informed and person-centred way. You will understand the importance of trust and engage with people who may have had difficult experiences with services in the past.

You will take initiative and make confident decisions in changing situations, working independently while contributing to a team that values open communication, good energy and genuine care. Creativity is encouraged and you will find practical, engaging ways to connect with people and support them to move forward. Attitude matters and you will bring warmth, good judgement and a willingness to roll up your sleeves, showing genuine care through your actions.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Alice Springs, with salary and conditions paying 10% above the award rates of SCHADS Level 4.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Build trusting relationships through consistent, respectful and culturally safe engagement
• Support people to identify their goals and take steps toward stability, safety and housing
• Hold intake conversations that honour each person’s story
• Develop case plans that reflect each person’s priorities and support access to services
• Walk beside people as they attend appointments, build life skills and reconnect with community and culture
• Maintain clear and respectful documentation that supports continuity of care
• Respond with flexibility and compassion as circumstances shift
• Work in a culturally respectful way when supporting Aboriginal people who have experienced trauma or systemic disadvantage
• Take initiative and make confident decisions in dynamic environments
• Contribute positively to a supportive team culture built on communication, collaboration and genuine care
• Use creativity to engage people, coordinate practical supports and approach challenges in new ways

What You Will Bring

• Certificate IV in Community Services or a related qualification
• Experience supporting people with complex needs in a social services environment
• Case management skills grounded in empathy, structure and cultural humility
• Experience working with people who may not have English as a first language
• Knowledge of local Aboriginal communities and culture
• Confidence working independently and making sound decisions
• Creativity, initiative and a willingness to think differently
• Strong communication, good judgement and reliable documentation skills
• NT Driver’s Licence
• Valid NT Working with Children’s Check (Ochre Card)
