General Manager of Finance

Perigon Group

Date: 1 week ago
City: Sydney, New South Wales
Est. A$118,570 - A$125,324 / yr
Contract type: Contractor

Perigon Group has been exclusively engaged to partner with this leading Hospitality group to source a General Manager of Finance on a 12 month contract.

This is a rare chance to step into a genuinely high-impact finance leadership role. The business manages a premium portfolio of hotel and hospitality assets across Australia and New Zealand. They now need an experienced General Manager of Finance on a 12 month contract, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

You'll take the reins of a multi-site finance function from day one — leading a Senior Finance Manager (operational finance) and a Financial Controller (reporting and tax), and making sure both teams are aligned, accurate, and delivering insight the leadership team can actually act on.

Role duties

  • Lead, mentor and maintain accountability across a large, multi-site finance team.
  • Leading and aligning two direct reports (over 20 indirect reports) across operational/transactional finance and reporting/tax
  • Leading month-end close and multi-entity consolidation across the portfolio
  • Partnering with leadership on strategic, commercially sound decisions
  • Mentoring and developing a high-performing finance team
  • Strengthening and stress-testing internal trust tax forecasting models
  • Running scenario analysis on tax structuring to maximise investor yields
  • Overseeing cross-staple pricing and distributions for ATO compliance
  • Acting as primary technical interface with parent company Head of Tax and Big 4 advisors
  • Projecting quarterly distribution components ahead of year-end statements
  • Owning budgeting, forecasting and end-to-end month-end at business unit level
  • Owning the financial integrity and strategic growth agenda for the organisation
  • Ensuring the accuracy of financial data and turning it into insight that drives real decision-making
  • Partnering with the leadership team to inform strategic, commercially sound choices
  • Continuously seek areas for enhancement within processes and systems and take initiative to drive and implement these changes

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Proven experience as a General Manager of Finance, Finance Director or Senior Financial Controller, ideally within hospitality, retail, multi-site or asset-heavy operating environments
  • A track record of leading and mentoring finance teams through direct reports
  • A strong technical accounting background across statutory reporting and tax
  • Strong commercial acumen and comfort with complex, high-volume cash flow environments
  • Confidence engaging and influencing senior stakeholders
  • A resilient, detail-focused, "own the outcome" mindset

If you're ready to lead finance for one of Australia's most dynamic hospitality portfolios — and want to make a real mark in 12 months — apply now or reach out to David Coupe () expressing your interest.
