The Role

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team supporting mission-critical communications and ICT environments.

This is a hands-on role focused on the design, implementation, operation, and sustainment of secure cloud and network infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments. You will work across cloud engineering, infrastructure automation, networking, cybersecurity, and operational support while contributing to the delivery of resilient and scalable platforms supporting critical business and operational outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have strong cloud engineering experience combined with infrastructure, networking, and security expertise in complex enterprise or government environments.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments.

Deploy, configure, and support cloud services, applications, and infrastructure components.

Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions and automation capabilities.

Support cloud migration, platform modernisation, and technology uplift initiatives.

Monitor and optimise cloud environments for performance, availability, security, and cost efficiency.

Support hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments.

Configure, manage, and troubleshoot network connectivity, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and DNS services.

Support Palo Alto firewalls, BGP routing, and secure inter-site connectivity solutions.

Implement highly available, resilient, and disaster recovery-focused architectures.

Support server, storage, networking, and virtualisation platforms.

Implement and maintain cloud security controls and monitoring capabilities.

Participate in vulnerability remediation, incident response, and root cause analysis activities.

Support change management, release management, and operational sustainment activities.

Produce technical documentation, solution designs, and operational procedures.

Contribute to architecture reviews, technical governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with engineers, architects, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver successful technology outcomes.

What You'll Need

Degree qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum 5 years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or a similar role.

Strong experience designing and supporting AWS cloud environments and services.

Strong experience designing and supporting Microsoft Azure cloud environments and services.

Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep.

Experience administering Windows and Linux environments.

Strong understanding of networking concepts including routing, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, and secure network connectivity.

Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Experience supporting cloud migrations, platform modernisation, and infrastructure transformation initiatives.

Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience supporting Defence, Government, critical infrastructure, or highly regulated environments is highly regarded.

Experience with Palo Alto firewalls, BGP routing, Kubernetes, container platforms, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud security technologies is highly regarded.

Knowledge of PSPF, ISM, IRAP, and Defence security frameworks is advantageous.

Experience supporting highly available communications, networking, or satellite-based environments is desirable.
