About The Role

The City of Ballarat’s Regulatory Services team is seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Compliance team.

The successful applicant will be a highly skilled and collaborative with strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills who can effectively engage with a broad range of stakeholders to address complex community compliance issues.

With a strong customer service focus, and experience with investigating complaints and enquiries, administering relevant legislation, policies and procedures, and undertaking enforcement and prosecution actions where required.

The role requires the ability to gain cooperation and provide clear information and guidance to stakeholders, clients, Council staff and members of the public, balancing regulatory responsibilities with a strong commitment to customer service and community outcomes.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Communications skills demonstrating understanding, empathy and problem-solving with high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Highly developed and demonstrated experience working with individuals with complex and challenging circumstances.
  • Demonstrated experience of multi-agency stakeholder liaison and relationship management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the interpretation and implementation of State and Local Planning Scheme provisions and the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
  • A ‘can do’ approach with people, working cooperatively with teams and individuals across a range of service provision.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software such as Microsoft office and database packages.
  • Knowledge and understanding of OH&S issues relevant to work activities and work area.
