Project Manager / Cabinet Submission Writer

The opportunity
BRG is seeking two experienced Cabinet Submission Writers to support the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Manufacturing Division.
The successful candidates will provide strategic writing and project management support across complex Defence capability acquisition and sustainment programs. Working closely with project managers, technical specialists and senior stakeholders, you will translate complex capability, technical and commercial information into clear, persuasive and decision-ready government documentation.
This is an opportunity for experienced Defence professionals with a strong background in Cabinet submissions, strategic business advice and senior-level government writing to support one of Defence's highest-priority capability areas.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and support the development of Cabinet submissions, business cases, briefs and executive-level reporting.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements, gather information and coordinate contributions.
- Translate complex technical, project and capability information into clear and persuasive written material.
- Conduct research and analysis to support strategic documentation and government decision-making.
- Coordinate inputs from project managers, technical specialists, commercial teams and other stakeholders.
- Develop presentations, infographics and communication material for senior Defence leadership.
- Provide strategic advice and recommendations to support key decision-makers.
- Develop key messages for a range of internal and government audiences.
- Monitor relevant policy, media and industry developments and recommend appropriate actions.
- Improve writing processes and methodologies across the program.
- Work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Essential Requirements
- Active NV1 security clearance or higher.
- Previous experience writing and developing Cabinet submissions.
- Minimum eight years' experience working within Defence or directly supporting Defence programs.
- Strong knowledge of Defence Writing Standards and internal Defence processes.
- Demonstrated experience providing strategic business advice.
- Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong experience managing complex senior stakeholder groups.
- Ability to research, understand and clearly communicate complex technical information.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgement and deliver within demanding timeframes.
Desirable experience
- Experience supporting GWEO, guided weapons, explosive ordnance or sovereign manufacturing initiatives.
- Experience developing First and Second Pass business cases or New Policy Proposals.
- Understanding of Defence capability acquisition and sustainment processes.
- Experience engaging with central agencies, including the Department of Finance and PM&C.
- Experience developing executive presentations and visual communication material.
