Role Overview

Our customer from the renowned real estate sector is seeking an experienced and passionate project lawyer for a 12-month contract with a high potential of extension. This dynamic secondment focuses on working on complex project delivery, construction, procurement, and commercial matters while partnering closely with internal stakeholders.

This role is available for an immediate start and is based in Canberra. Candidates located in Sydney who can travel regularly will also be considered. Flexible working arrangements are available, with both full-time and part-time options offered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support across all phases of a major construction and infrastructure project.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on construction, procurement, consultancy, and commercial agreements.
  • Advise project teams on contractual obligations, risk management, and compliance matters.
  • Support contract administration activities, including variations, claims, disputes, and project-related issues.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to provide practical and commercially focused legal advice.
  • Assist with regulatory, governance, and corporate compliance requirements relevant to the project.
  • Manage external counsel where required and coordinate legal input across multiple stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of project objectives while mitigating legal and commercial risk.

About You

  • A minimum of 4+ years PQE in property law experience gained in a reputable law firm or in-house legal team.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise on complex contractual and project-related matters.
  • Strong experience in construction, infrastructure, projects, procurement, or commercial contracting.
  • Experience supporting major projects or large-scale commercial transactions is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
