Production Engineer

Southern Adelaide, SA | Permanent full time | On-site | AU citizen required

An Australian advanced manufacturing business is building out its production capability and needs a Production Engineer to sit between the design office and the factory floor. This is the role that makes the difference between a design that works on screen and a design that can be built repeatably. You'll own manufacturability input into new product, introduce new processes and plant, and drive the throughput, quality and cost improvements that let the operation scale.

What you'll be doing

  • Acting as the technical link between engineering and production - the go-to on design for manufacture
  • Designing and project managing the introduction of new manufacturing processes, including specifying and procuring new plant through a CAPEX process
  • Improving existing processes to lift throughput and reduce operating cost
  • Designing production flow and factory layout
  • Identifying bottlenecks and resolving equipment failures and process deviations
  • Reviewing quality issues through the non-conformance process and improving process controls so they don't recur
  • Providing technical input to risk assessments and engineering out safety risk

What you'll bring

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering
  • Strong practical understanding of manufacturing processes and machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Working knowledge of strength of materials
  • Hands-on production or assembly experience is well regarded but not essential
  • Experience in aerospace or a comparable regulated manufacturing environment preferred
  • Exposure to Lean or continuous improvement in a volume production setting

    Eligibility

Australian citizenship is required. You'll need to hold, or be able to obtain and maintain, an AGSVA Negative Vetting Level 1 clearance or above.

    The environment

Workshop and factory floor - fabrication tools, chemicals, noise, dust and heat, with PPE required in designated areas.

There's regular time on your feet and manual handling involved. Some overtime or shift flexibility depending on production demand, plus occasional domestic travel for testing or customer work.
