Semiconductor Material Science Expert (AI Training)

About The Role

What if your deep knowledge of semiconductor materials or molecular modeling could directly shape how AI reasons through the most complex problems in materials science? We're looking for Masters and PhD-level experts to work alongside leading AI research teams — building, solving, and reviewing advanced problems that teach AI to think like a scientist.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed for specialists who want to put their expertise to work on something genuinely new. No prior AI experience needed — just a rigorous scientific mind and a passion for your field.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Develop, solve, and critically review advanced material science problems with real-world relevance
  • Apply your expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or related areas to craft complex, rigorous problem statements
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to sharpen AI model reasoning
  • Ensure scientific accuracy, depth, and clarity across all deliverables
  • Help set the standard for how AI understands and engages with materials science at a graduate level

Who You Are

  • Holds a Master's or PhD in Material Science, Materials Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Deep expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or adjacent disciplines
  • Proficient in Python or MATLAB — whether from research, coursework, or applied projects
  • Exceptional written communicator who can convey complex concepts with precision and clarity
  • Detail-oriented, self-directed, and comfortable working independently in an asynchronous environment
  • Fluent in English

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data annotation, data quality evaluation, or AI training workflows
  • Background in computational materials science or quantum chemistry
  • Prior work in research environments with a focus on reproducibility and scientific rigor
  • Familiarity with AI or machine learning tools as an end user or researcher

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside the world's leading AI research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
