The Company

Concentis is partnering with Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) to recruit an experienced Electrical Instrumentation & Control Technician to support the ongoing maintenance and reliability of GAWB's critical electrical, instrumentation, automation and control systems.

Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority constituted under the Water Act 2000, responsible for delivering a safe, secure and reliable bulk water supply to the Gladstone Region. GAWB owns and operates Awoonga Dam on the Boyne River, along with an extensive network of pipelines, water treatment plants and bulk water infrastructure supporting major industrial customers and the broader community.

With a strong focus on sustainable operations, innovation and continuous improvement, GAWB plays a critical role in supporting the region's economic growth while ensuring long-term water security.

About the Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you'll be responsible for the planned, preventative and reactive maintenance of GAWB's electrical, instrumentation, automation and control systems across its water treatment and distribution network.

Working within a collaborative maintenance team, you'll perform fault finding, repairs, calibration and commissioning across a broad range of assets including HV/LV equipment, switchboards, VFDs, PLCs, telemetry and SCADA systems. You'll also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, maintain accurate maintenance records and provide technical support to ensure the ongoing reliability of critical water infrastructure.

Key Accountabilities

  • Carry out planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance across electrical, instrumentation and control assets
  • Perform fault finding, diagnostics and repairs on PLC, SCADA, telemetry and automation systems
  • Maintain HV/LV electrical infrastructure including switchgear, transformers, switchboards, VFDs, protection systems and emergency power supplies
  • Calibrate and maintain online analysers, flow meters and process instrumentation
  • Construct, modify and maintain electrical switchboards and control systems
  • Update maintenance records, drawings and work orders within the CMMS
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and provide technical guidance to colleagues where required

Essential Experience / Capabilities

  • Dual Trade Qualification - Electrical Fitter Mechanic and Instrumentation
  • Current Electrical Fitter Mechanic Licence
  • HV switching certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining electrical, instrumentation and automation systems within water, wastewater, utilities or heavy industrial environments
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs (preferably Allen Bradley), SCADA and telemetry systems
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and telemetry drawings
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office and computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS)

Desirable

  • Experience working within the water or wastewater industry
  • Knowledge of the Water Act 2000 and associated legislation
  • First Aid, LV Rescue and CPR certification
  • Construction Industry White Card
