Your Opportunity

Every meal has the power to bring comfort, dignity and connection. As a Kitchen Hand, you will play an important role in supporting people living in our residential aged care by helping deliver nutritious meals in a safe and welcoming environment.

Working as part of a supportive catering team, you will assist with food preparation, meal service, cleaning and maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards. Your contribution will help create a positive dining experience for residents and clients while ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and in line with health and safety requirements.

Your key responsibilities will be to

  • Assist with basic food preparation and meal plating
  • Support the delivery and serving of meals to residents and clients
  • Wash dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment
  • Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment
  • Follow food safety, infection control and workplace health and safety procedures
  • Receive, unpack and correctly store food supplies
  • Assist with stock rotation and minimise food waste
  • Work collaboratively with cooks, chefs and care staff to ensure timely meal service
  • Support special dietary requirements as directed
  • Contribute to a welcoming and respectful environment for residents, clients and visitors

Requirements for Success

  • Experience working in aged care, hospitality or community services environment (desirable)
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive attitude with a genuine commitment to providing quality service
  • Flexibility to work across a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays if required
  • Physical ability to undertake manual handling and kitchen duties

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
