Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fifth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing, transport and health care. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.

Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 69,000 and is culturally rich with 17.4% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.

Senior Officer - Rates and Revenue

Salary: $80,385.24 per annum

Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking a Senior Officer Rates and Revenue. This senior role works within the Rates and Revenue team supporting the delivery of Council’s rates, property, valuation and revenue functions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating rate and sundry debtor revenue collection processes;
  • Assisting with revaluation, supplementary valuation and objection processes;
  • Maintaining the integrity of rates, property and valuation data;
  • Preparing and assisting in the preparation of financial reports, reconciliations and statutory returns;
  • Processing financial adjustments and supporting compliance with legislation and Council policies; and
  • Responding to complex enquiries from ratepayers, government agencies and external contractors.

The successful applicant will have highly developed communication and customer service skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. Experience in rates, revenue, debt collection, conveyancing, finance or a similar administration role is preferred, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems

You will be joining an experienced and collaborative team committed to delivering excellent customer service while supporting the effective management of Council's revenue, rating and property functions.
