About The Opportunity

The Recovery Worker will work alongside participants to address key development areas that support the development of independence in: living skills, social skills, leadership, decision making teamwork, healthy lifestyle, community service, responsibility, self-identity, self-esteem and resilience. A key outcome will be supporting the participant to identify and nurture natural supports that sustain recovery and assist in the development of self-management skills.

You will provide encouragement young people engaged in the service and assist them in building long term support networks to ensure they are fully supported as they take steps along their recovery journey.

About The Program

The Jacaranda Program is a semi supported youth residential rehabilitation service for people aged 16 to 25, with a diagnosed mental illness. It aims to support young people who are living with a mental illness and who have or are at risk of developing significant functional disability and their families. The program will deliver psychosocial support with a focus on community development and engagement and family capacity building.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant qualifications or commensurate experience working in a support role for people with a mental health challenge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Right to work within Australia
  • Current valid Driver’s Licence and the ability to undertake some travel
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
  • Satisfactory National Police Records Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children's Check
