Your role at St John of God Bunbury Hospital
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Environmental Services Supervisor to join St John of God Bunbury Hospital on a permanent part-time basis, 60 hours per fortnight.
In this role, you will support the Coordinator Environmental Services to maintain a high standard of cleaning and waste management across all allocated areas by training, supervising and motivating the Environmental Services caregivers. You will ensure all tasks are completed in line with Standard Operating Procedures and cleaning schedules, contributing to a safe, hygienic and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and caregivers.
The Position
- Ensure high quality cleaning and waste handling standards are met and consistently maintained in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and cleaning schedules.
- Ensure that all Environmental Service areas are adequately maintained.
- Conduct cleaning and linen audits within scope of Standard Operating Procedures and provide timely feedback and support to caregivers.
- Ensure that all departmental equipment is safe and in good working order and that any repairs or replacements are identified and remedied as a priority.
- Ensure all Environmental caregivers observe personal hygiene and uniform standards.
- Ensure all Environmental caregivers are aware of waste management policies and procedures and understand the correct management of all wastes and the need for clinical waste segregation.
- Prepare and review rosters and leave requests in a timely manner.
- As guided by the Manager, conduct performance management of Environmental Services caregivers.
- Assess current processes and coordinate with the Manager any areas for improvement in order to enhance the quality of cleaning and waste handling services provided in the hospital.
- Actively support and participate in accreditation.
The successful candidate will have previous experience supervising caregivers in a cleaning environment, with the ability to support and deliver effective training programs. They will demonstrate strong knowledge of cleaning chemicals, safe handling practices, and the correct operation of cleaning equipment, along with the capability to coordinate resources efficiently through roster planning and leave management. Well‑developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are essential, supported by proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
In addition, the candidate will show a strong commitment to improving productivity and service quality, with the initiative to identify opportunities for improvement within the department. They will demonstrate sound problem‑solving skills and the ability to develop effective solutions, while fostering team development and maintaining staff trust and engagement. The role requires the ability to work under pressure, accommodate flexible hours and variable workdays, and apply occupational health and safety principles to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and others.

- Salary: $71,369 to $72,635 per annum (pro rata), plus 12% superannuation
- Permanent part-time position, working 60 hours per fortnight
