Team Leader - Tree & Landscape Assessment

  • Lead a specialist team delivering high-quality private tree and landscape assessment services.
  • Drive positive customer experiences through proactive engagement, professional advice and the timely resolution of tree and landscape assessment enquiries, supporting applicants and stakeholders throughout the development assessment process.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve coordinated, efficient and high-quality development assessment outcomes.
  • Champion best practice in tree and landscape assessment, promoting continuous improvement, sustainable development, protection of the urban forest, and robust, defensible assessment outcomes aligned with Council's planning objectives.

About The Role

The Team Leader – Tree & Landscape Assessment will manage a dedicated team within the Development Assessment Division. This role is responsible for leading the delivery of efficient, high-quality and customer-focused assessment services for development applications and tree management matters.

The position plays a key role in ensuring development applications are assessed within statutory and organisational timeframes while maintaining high standards of technical excellence in landscape and arboricultural assessment. The Team Leader will promote consistent decision-making, support sustainable development outcomes, protect and enhance Council’s urban forest, and contribute to the achievement of Council’s strategic planning and environmental objectives.

Who We're Looking For

The successful candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to customer service excellence. You will be responsible for guiding your team in delivering effective solutions.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture, Arboriculture, or equivalent.
  • A current Class C Driver's Licence and General Construction Induction Card (NSW).
  • Extensive experience in landscape and tree assessment within a local government framework.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Proven leadership experience in a dynamic work environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and ability to ensure compliance.

Your role will involve managing team performance, nurturing professional development, and advocating for best practises in landscape and tree assessment within the Council’s strategic framework.

  • Package: $117,242-$129,637 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation. In addition an award vehicle allowance of $10,780 gross p.a. will be paid.
  • Hours of work: Permanent Full Time. You will have the option of a 19 day month through Council’s flex system.
