Pegasus Riding for the Disabled is a local Canberra charity that has supported children and adults with disability for over 50 years through equine-assisted programs. Each week, participants build confidence, independence, physical strength, and social connection through interactions with horses, volunteers, and the wider community. Pegasus relies on the generosity of volunteers, donors, and supporters to sustain and grow these impactful services. The organization is committed to creating inclusive opportunities for people of all abilities and enriching lives through meaningful, horse-based experiences.

Role Description

The Marketing Volunteer role is a flexible, hybrid position based in Canberra. This role involves assisting with the planning and execution of marketing activities to raise awareness of Pegasus programs and campaigns, including supporting social media content, newsletters, and community outreach materials. The Marketing Volunteer will help with market research tasks, such as gathering and analysing information about audiences, stakeholders, and local partnerships. Day-to-day activities may include helping coordinate events and promotions, supporting donor and supporter communications, and contributing ideas to marketing strategies. The volunteer will work closely with staff and other volunteers to ensure consistent messaging and positive representation of Pegasus in the community.

Qualifications

  • Strong Communication and Customer Service skills to engage respectfully with participants, families, donors, and community partners.
  • Ability to support Marketing Strategy development and basic Market Research to inform campaigns and outreach.
  • Interest or experience in Sales and Marketing, particularly in promoting programs, events, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a volunteer environment.
  • Comfort working on-site around horses and in a community setting; prior experience with charities or not-for-profit organizations is an advantage.
  • Basic digital literacy, including familiarity with email, social media, and common office software; design or content creation skills are beneficial.
  • Commitment to inclusion, respect, and safeguarding of people of all abilities.
