Safety, Health and Environment Manager (Mining)

Golding are currently seeking an experienced Safety, Health and Environment Manager (Mining) to be based in our Brisbane office located in Milton.

Golding are currently seeking an experienced Safety, Health and Environment Manager (Mining) to be based in our Brisbane office located in Milton.

Reporting to the General Manager Governance, Risk and Compliance, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for maintaining governance and assurance of SHE Systems, managing the planning and implementation of SHE Improvement Initiatives, and lead a small team with a focus on technical support and governance.

You will have the capability to handle multiple complex situations simultaneously and a demonstrated record in positively influencing key stakeholders in order to achieve objectives.

Key role tasks

  • Contribute to the development of key strategic deliverables aligned with the function business plan;
  • Lead and manage the deployment and embedding of improvement initiatives;
  • Lead the SHET component of bids and provide information to the Bid Leader to the required standards and timeframes
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies, local authorities, community organisations, and other stakeholders on safety, health, and environmental matters.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety, health, and environmental activities, and reporting incidents and compliance to relevant authorities
  • Conduct and participate in internal audits and other governance activities to assess compliance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective measures
  • Provide SME advice to key stakeholders (internal and external), in particular with respect to regulatory compliance ;
  • Support of pre-employment medicals process including periodic review and upkeep of relevant job task profiles;
  • Coaching and mentoring direct reports with focus on development of the technical aspects of these roles;
    • periodically review and update strategic SHE plan, SHE objectives and metrics
    • development of SHE Improvement Initiative Project Plans
    • schedule and monitor and assist in delivering audit programmes
    • meet monthly and quarterly project and corporate reporting and assurance requirements
    • prepare content and documentation for tender submissions.

Key Capabilities Requirements

  • Degree level qualification in OHS or related field is preferred;
  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in a corporate HSE leadership role or large scale project environment;
  • Demonstrated in-depth technical knowledge and experience in either the mining or resources sectors;
  • Strong understanding and experience in the management and assurance of HSE management systems, with sound working knowledge of ISO45001;
  • Lead auditor qualification required, including demonstrated experience in leading and conducting audits and gap analyses against ISO management systems and legislative frameworks; and
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in mining .
  • Demonstrated experience in leading complex incident analysis and identifying high value organisational learnings.
