Quality and Deployment Lead - NT Gov, 6-month contract, Darwin
Scope of Works
The Quality and Deployment Lead will be responsible for leading and coordinating quality assurance, release management, deployment planning, and operational readiness activities across a portfolio of ICT initiatives. The role will work closely with project managers, technical teams, vendors, business stakeholders, and operational support teams to ensure solutions are delivered to agreed quality standards and deployed successfully into production environments. This includes establishing and maintaining quality and deployment frameworks, coordinating release activities, managing deployment schedules, facilitating readiness assessments, and ensuring effective governance throughout the delivery lifecycle. The successful candidate will provide leadership in quality and deployment practices, proactively manage risks and dependencies, and drive continuous improvement to support successful business outcomes. The role requires strong stakeholder engagement, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to coordinate activities across multiple projects and technology environments.
Key Deliverables
- Lead and coordinate quality assurance and deployment activities across multiple ICT initiatives and technologyenvironments.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality management, release management, and deployment frameworks, processes,and standards.
- Establish and oversee release and deployment schedules, ensuring alignment with project and business objectives.
- Coordinate quality assurance activities across project teams, vendors, technical resources, and business stakeholders.
- Ensure solutions meet agreed quality standards, operational readiness requirements, and governance obligations prior todeployment.
- Manage release planning, deployment execution, environment readiness, and post-deployment validation activities.
- Identify, manage, and escalate quality, deployment, and release-related risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Develop and maintain deployment runbooks, release documentation, quality metrics, and reporting artefacts.
- Facilitate go-live readiness assessments and support business transition activities.
- Promote continuous improvement across testing, quality assurance, release management, and deployment practices.
- Provide regular reporting on quality outcomes, release status, deployment readiness, and associated risks.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Project Management, or arelated discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in quality assurance, release management, deployment management, or related ICT deliveryroles.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing methodologies, change management, anddeployment practices.
- Proven experience coordinating releases and deployments within complex ICT environments.
- Experience developing and implementing quality assurance, release, and deployment processes and standards.
- Experience working with project teams, vendors, business stakeholders, and technical resources across multipleworkstreams.
- Strong understanding of risk, issue, dependency, and change management processes.
- Experience using project, test, release, and defect management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, ServiceNow, orequivalent.
- Strong analytical, planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with technical and non-technicalstakeholders.
- Experience preparing governance artefacts, status reporting, and executive-level communications.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience delivering ICT initiatives within government or highly regulated environments.
- Experience working across complex integration and multi-system environments.
- Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, and ITIL practices.
- Experience supporting production releases, operational readiness, and business transition activities.
