Sales Estimating Team Leader

Woods & Co is partnering with a well-established volume builder in Melbourne to recruit an experienced Sales Estimating Team Leader.
This opportunity would suit an experienced residential Sales Estimator with proven leadership capability, or an established Team Leader looking for their next challenge. Working alongside senior leadership, you'll oversee the day to day performance of the sales estimating function while remaining technically involved in the preparation and review of estimates. You'll be responsible for leading a team of estimators, providing guidance and mentoring, balancing workloads and ensuring estimates are delivered accurately and within required timeframes. You'll also work closely with sales, drafting, procurement, scheduling and construction teams to ensure estimates align with client selections, developer requirements and construction methodologies, while contributing to continuous improvements across systems and processes.
The Role
As the Team Lead, you'll be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of the sales estimating function, ensuring estimates are provided accurately, efficiently and in line with business expectations.
This position requires someone with a genuine passion for residential construction, exceptional estimating knowledge and the ability to balance people leadership with operational delivery. You'll play an important role in maintaining estimating standards, improving workflows and building strong relationships across the business to ensure a smooth transition from sales through to construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of Sales Estimators
- Prepare and review detailed residential sales estimates
- Review complex files and provide technical guidance to the estimating team
- Ensure estimates are accurate, commercially viable and completed within agreed timeframes
- Interpret architectural drawings, engineering documentation and developer requirements
- Review client variations, specifications and inclusions
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating systems, processes and efficiencies
- Collaborate with sales, drafting, procurement, scheduling and construction teams
- Monitor team performance, workload allocation and delivery timeframes
- Support the ongoing training and development of the estimating team
About You
- Extensive experience in residential Sales Estimating within a volume or large scale building environment
- Previous experience leading, mentoring or supervising an estimating team
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods, NCC requirements and developer guidelines
- High level of technical estimating knowledge and attention to detail
- Experience using Databuild (preferred)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
