We are seeking flexible, patient-centred Orderlies for casual positions across at East Melbourne (Albert Street and Victoria Parade). This is an excellent opportunity to join our supportive and friendly Environmental Services team at Epworth Freemasons and be part of a growing healthcare service.

Successful candidates will have an excellent understanding of the principles of customer service and cleaning standards within private healthcare and will be willing to grow with our services whilst being part of a supportive culture to achieve excellence in care.

Key Responsibilities for this role include

  • Provide safe and efficient patient transportation throughout the hospital.
  • Assist clinical staff with patient care activities as required.
  • Use occupational health and safety equipment and resources in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Transport pathology specimens, pharmacy items, medical supplies, and patient belongings across the site.
  • Support ward, theatre, and clinical operations through the timely movement of equipment and materials.
  • Contribute to a positive patient experience through professional, compassionate, and customer-focused service.
  • Adhere to infection prevention, workplace safety, and quality standards at all times.

To be successful in the role, you will:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact compassionately with patients, families, and staff.
  • A strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service in a healthcare environment.
  • Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, including safe manual handling practices.
  • Physical capability to undertake patient transfers, transportation duties, and other manual tasks throughout the hospital.
  • A reliable, professional, and adaptable approach to work.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, and workplace safety.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare, patient services, orderly, porter, or customer service role (desirable).
  • Availability to work a rotating roster, including weekends, public holidays, and shift work as required.

As one of Victoria's leading maternity hospitals, Epworth Freemasons specialises in women’s and men’s health services including breast and gynaecological surgery, endoscopy and urology. Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance or a related qualification (desirable).
  • Experience working within a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Training in manual handling and/or patient transport procedures.
  • A current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
