Contract Duration: 1 SEP 2026 – 30 JUN 2027

We are seeking experienced Systems Engineers, Safety Engineers, Mechanical Engineers & Technical Authors to support the development of engineering governance and technical publication material within a complex Defence environment.

Working closely with senior engineering stakeholders and subject matter experts, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of technical artefacts that support engineering governance, assurance and technical authority activities. This role requires the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, structured and publication-ready documentation suitable for a range of audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review and maintain technical governance material, including standards, frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • Analyse publication and documentation requirements and develop author briefs.
  • Facilitate technical working groups, stakeholder workshops and document review sessions.
  • Author and edit publication-ready technical and governance content.
  • Develop technical documentation from initial concept through to final publication.
  • Ensure traceability to applicable standards, policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify dependencies across related policies, standards, procedures and guidance material.
  • Prepare textual and graphical content for publication.
  • Provide regular status updates on deliverables and milestones.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Background in Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Radiation/Health Physics.
  • Experience within Defence capability acquisition, sustainment, governance or assurance environments.
  • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality technical documentation, standards, policies, procedures or governance artefacts.
  • Experience engaging technical stakeholders to clarify, validate and refine content.
  • Strong attention to detail and sound document control practices.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification or demonstrated relevant experience.
  • Strong technical writing, editing and publication development skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical information and present it to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong technical communication skills.
  • Applicants must hold a minimum Australian Government Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance.
