Senior Cloud Engineer

12-Month Contract + 2 x 12-Month Extensions

Locations: ACT, NSW, VIC, QLD, SA or WA

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer with deep expertise in AWS and/or Azure to join a large-scale Federal Government digital transformation program.

This role will see you designing, building and optimising secure cloud environments while supporting the deployment of emerging technologies including AI, Machine Learning and Generative AI platforms. You'll work closely with architecture, cyber security and infrastructure teams to establish cloud foundations, implement governance frameworks and deliver highly available, scalable cloud solutions.

This is an opportunity to contribute to nationally significant technology initiatives while working on leading-edge cloud and AI capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver secure cloud solutions across AWS and/or Azure.
• Build and enhance greenfield and existing cloud environments.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions and reusable cloud patterns.
• Deliver cloud platforms that are secure, scalable and highly available.
• Support migration and deployment of AI and machine learning workloads.
• Implement cloud governance, networking, security and resource management frameworks.
• Collaborate with architecture, cyber security and engineering teams.
• Drive DevSecOps best practices and CI/CD automation.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring across project teams.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation and solution designs.

Skills & Experience

• 5+ years' experience in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering or Cloud Infrastructure roles.
• Strong experience with either AWS or Azure public cloud platforms.
• Proven experience delivering cloud solutions using Infrastructure as Code.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, security and governance.
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with PowerShell, Python and/or Bash scripting.
• Knowledge of RBAC, IAM, Security Hub, Defender for Cloud or similar security tooling.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Highly Desirable

• Experience deploying and managing AI, Machine Learning or Generative AI workloads.
• Experience with enterprise cloud migration programs.
• Exposure to both AWS and Azure environments.
• Federal Government experience.
