Our client is seeking to engage an experienced Senior Drupal Web Developer on a contract basis.

Reporting to the Director Content and Design, the Senior Web Developer role combines proven technical ability in the development and maintenance of Drupal websites and a strong understanding of Australian government operating environments, including a best practice approach to security, performance and accessibility.

Working within a small web team, the Senior Web Developer contributes to increased capability across their work area and demonstrates strong communication skills, working effectively with key stakeholders to translate their problems into tangible results.

Role context

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and development capability to support a small web team managing a complex, newly transitioned website project.
  • Ensure the continuity and improvement of existing internal and external facing online platforms as well as being deeply involved in the development and release of new features and applications.
  • Utilise a strong technical background in all facets of web development to assist with development of software, websites and web applications.
  • Develop visuals and interfaces as well as backend actions on websites or web applications.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc web issue tracking, response and rectification within a small internal web team.
  • Liaise directly with key internal stakeholders to address issues and provide high-quality solutions within the limitations of the existing platforms.
  • Support the development of procurement documentation for vendors including documenting technical requirements for the PC website.
  • Support the preparation and publishing of website content in accordance with accepted Australian Government website standards and practices.

Technical skills

Experience in Drupal website development and maintenance of Drupal websites.

About the team

The successful candidate will be working within the Strategic Communications and Engagement Team and will be responsible for development and maintenance of the Commission's Drupal website.

Essential criteria

  • 1.Proven ability to develop and maintain Drupal websites, including custom module development and maintenance.
  • 2.Experience improving and managing a website’s performance, security and analytics reporting.
  • 3.Ability to uplift managed platforms to meet accessibility, usability and user-centred design requirements.
  • 4.Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents across performance, caching, background processing, and integrations, and provide technical advice to restore services quickly.
  • 5.Demonstrated experience leading website handoff processes, and managing code review, source control, testing and quality assurance processes.
  • 6.Ability to collaborate with technical specialists and service providers to ensure network and server architecture and configurations meet business requirements and appropriate technical standards.

Desirable criteria

  • 1.Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal teams, business areas and external providers.
