About The Opportunity

We are representing a major utility provider seeking an experienced Commercial Business Partner to play a pivotal role in the delivery of their Major Works Portfolio. In this senior, high-impact position, you will provide end-to-end commercial, contractual, and risk management support across a diverse range of critical infrastructure projects.

You will act as a trusted advisor to project managers and delivery teams, ensuring sound governance, robust contract administration, and commercial excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Commercial Leadership: Drive positive outcomes while balancing risk, cost, schedule, and stakeholder expectations.
• Project Delivery: Provide strategic commercial advice from project initiation and business case development through to project delivery.
• Contract Administration: Lead the administration of major construction and consultancy contracts (including AS 4300/AS 2124).
• Governance & Risk: Identify and mitigate commercial risks early and ensure compliance with governance frameworks.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Coach project teams and build commercial capability across the portfolio.

What You Bring

You are a commercially astute professional with the ability to operate autonomously within a complex infrastructure environment. You possess:

• 5+ years of commercial management experience within major projects, construction, infrastructure, or engineering sectors.
• Deep knowledge of standard-form construction contracts (e.g., AS 4300, AS 2124).
• Strong financial literacy with proven experience in contract negotiation, claims management, and dispute resolution.
• Excellent influencing skills, with the ability to challenge assumptions and drive accountability.
• Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., CIPS, RICS, WCC, or similar).
