Senior Applications Engineer – Battery Energy Storage Systems

Location: Australia (national travel required)

Our client is one of the world's largest battery energy storage manufacturers, backed by serious global manufacturing scale, for energy storage batteries, and a project portfolio spanning utility, C&I, and long-duration storage across four continents.

The business is now investing in local technical capability to match its ambitions here. This is a genuine opportunity to be the technical face of a global BESS leader in one of its fastest-growing markets. You won't just be supporting sales, you'll be shaping how serious storage projects get built in Australia.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading technical solution design for BESS projects based on customer and grid requirements
  • Acting as the key technical partner to the local sales team through the full deal lifecycle, from early discovery to contract execution
  • Developing technical proposals and bid packages that hold up under scrutiny from independent engineers and financiers
  • Working closely with global product, supply chain, and R&D teams to bring international manufacturing capability to bear on local project needs
  • Reviewing grid code compliance and relevant Australian standards as part of project scoping
  • Supporting commercial negotiations and contract review from a technical standpoint
  • Building strong, ongoing relationships with developers, EPCs, and asset owners across the sector
  • Staying close to the market: technology shifts, competitor products, and regulatory change

What you'll bring

  • 5 to 15 years' experience in renewable energy applications engineering
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Strong working knowledge of BESS architecture, inverters, transformers, EMS/BMS platforms, and balance-of-system equipment
  • Familiarity with relevant grid codes and standards for the Australian market
  • Confidence presenting technical solutions to clients and defending design decisions
  • The ability to translate complex engineering detail into commercially useful insight for non-technical stakeholders
  • A collaborative approach, sound judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel domestically as required

Why this role is worth a conversation

  • Join a genuine global manufacturing leader with a proven long-duration storage product and real momentum in Australia
  • Sit at the intersection of engineering and commercial strategy, with real influence over how projects are won
  • Access to global R&D and manufacturing capability most local competitors can't match
  • Competitive package, with performance incentives tied to project wins

If you're an engineer who understands the technology and the deal, and you want to help lead a global storage manufacturer's growth in Australia, we'd like to hear from you.
