Senior WHS Consultant – Safety & Prevention
Howden Insurance Brokers Australia
Senior WHS Consultant – Safety & Prevention
Senior Associate, People Risk
About Howden
We are part of the Howden Broking Group, the world's largest privately owned insurance broker, headquartered in London. Since launching Howden in the Pacific region in March 2021, we have grown from a team of three to over 600 employees across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
Our mantra is to be People First. We believe you can teach someone new skills, but not how to be a different person. We offer a chance to join a rapidly growing business at an exciting time, with a genuinely collegiate culture and highly engaged team.
The opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced safety and prevention professional to join our People Risk – Safety & Prevention team as a Senior Associate, based in Sydney. You’ll manage your own portfolio of clients and lead safety, prevention and risk-management engagements end to end, from board and executive advisory through to hands-on delivery. This will be across a wide range of industries and workplaces throughout the Pacific.
It’s a role with real breadth: no two clients (or weeks) look the same, and you’ll be trusted to make an impact from day one.
What you’ll do
- Own a portfolio of clients, coordinating their safety, prevention and risk-management needs end to end.
- Lead engagements from scoping through to delivery, keeping projects on scope, time and budget.
- Partner with senior stakeholders and lead working groups to achieve project milestones.
- Facilitate workshops and briefings for boards, executives, leaders and frontline teams.
- Advise on WHS/OHS obligations, psychosocial risk and injury prevention, translating complex requirements into practical, defensible solutions.
- Prepare and present proposals and scopes of work, and help grow the practice through strong client relationships.
- Produce written and verbal advice that is technically accurate, timely and genuinely useful.
- Mentor and support our Associates and Trainees, and contribute to the tools and IP that shape our advisory offer.
During your first six to twelve months you’ll start by getting to know your portfolio and our methodologies, working alongside senior colleagues on board and executive engagements before taking the lead on your own. Within your first year, we’d expect you to be independently running engagements, trusted by your clients, and contributing to new work.
From there, the pathway to Partner is clear for those who want it, with genuine mentoring, support and the opportunity to help build a growing national practice.
