The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Compensation & Benefits Payroll Specialist to join a well-established retail organisation. Reporting into the Head of People, this role sits at the intersection of Payroll, Compensation & Benefits, HR and Finance, providing specialist expertise across workforce costs, remuneration programs and payroll operations.
This is far more than a traditional payroll position. You will be the subject matter expert responsible for payroll governance, remuneration analysis, incentive programs, payroll forecasting and workforce reporting, partnering closely with HR, Finance and Commercial stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate fortnightly payroll activities through an outsourced payroll provider.
- Review payroll outputs, investigate variances and ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
- Own payroll reporting, reconciliations, budgeting and quarterly reforecasting.
- Administer retail and wholesale incentive programs and commission calculations.
- Support annual remuneration reviews, salary benchmarking and compensation analysis.
- Provide workforce cost reporting and insights to HR and Finance leadership.
- Act as the key advisor on payroll-related costs including superannuation, workers compensation and employee benefits.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to identify trends, improve productivity reporting and support business decision-making.
About You
You will bring:
- End-to-end payroll experience within a medium to large organisation.
- Exposure to Compensation & Benefits, remuneration reviews or reward programs.
- Strong analytical capability and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with payroll budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the confidence to partner with senior leaders.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
