Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Pharmacy Students to join the Pharmacy Department.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Services Are Provided Through Our Six Main Campuses
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About The Northern Health Pharmacy Department
The Pharmacy Department operates across six campuses and has a strong vision to deliver exceptional, evidenced-based care to our patients – with a clear focus on research, medication safety and clinical excellence.
The department comprises over 100 pharmacists and 30 technicians to provide clinical, operational, quality and informatics services with a strong focus on workforce culture and commitment to professional development.
We are currently undergoing a period of expansion which provides unique opportunities for specialisation appealing to those wishing to challenge themselves and advance practice including pharmacist and technician advanced-scope roles, collaborative multidisciplinary programs and services, award winning medicine stewardship programs (e.g. analgesics, anticoagulants, antimicrobials and transitions of care) and care beyond hospital walls.
Education and development of pharmacists are supported through structured and accredited intern, resident and registrar training programs.
About The Role
The Pharmacy Student will be employed at Northern Health for a period of 4 weeks, during which the student will complete a total of 152 hours.
The Pharmacy Student has responsibility for participation under supervision in the clinical pharmacy services including ensuring competency, credentialing, supervision and professional development.
They will ensure excellence in client care, evidence-based practice, service improvement and risk management with a role in the student education program.
The Pharmacy student will also provide support to the service departments within the pharmacy under supervision, including dispensary, manufacturing, sterile services, research and quality improvement activities and pharmacy assistance and service to other departments, wards and clinical areas across NH campuses as required to do so.
To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have
- Current enrolment in Bachelor of Pharmacy degree or equivalent qualifications
- Current National Police and Working with Children History Check.
- Commitment to evidence based and patient-centred care
- Demonstrated good interpersonal and communication skills
