Application Support Engineer

As an Application Support Engineer, you'll be responsible for supporting, analysing and implementing changes across a portfolio of critical business applications. You'll monitor, maintain and troubleshoot software solutions, working across end-to-end application architecture and technologies including .NET, React, JavaScript, SQL and related frameworks.
You'll apply ITIL-aligned processes to manage incidents, problems and changes, ensuring support requests are resolved efficiently and service standards are maintained. Working closely with business stakeholders, vendors and technology teams, you'll contribute to application availability, release management, disaster recovery planning, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives that help keep our technology environment performing at its best.

Responsibilities
Day to day, you'll:
- Support and maintain business-critical applications and web applications across end-to-end architecture and technology stacks including .NET, React, JavaScript, SQL and related frameworks.
- Provide maintenance, support and troubleshooting services while maintaining application support processes and documentation.
- Manage incidents and service requests, ensuring timely investigation, prioritisation and resolution.
- Apply ITIL-aligned incident, problem and change management processes.
- Analyse recurring incidents, create problem records and raise Change Requests where required.
- Monitor application performance and contribute to service availability outcomes.
- Support software configuration, testing, deployment and release activities.
- Assist with disaster recovery planning, testing and documentation.
- Perform root cause analysis and escalate risks in line with internal frameworks.
- Build strong relationships with business stakeholders, technical teams and vendors.
- Instruct end users and team members on the effective use of business systems.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across support processes.
- Contribute to operational support activities, including participation in an on-call roster and occasional out-of-hours support when required.
Qualifications
It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:
- You hold a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
- Your experience includes supporting complex enterprise applications and technology environments.
- You'll bring strong problem-solving, analytical and incident management capabilities.
- You're confident communicating with technical teams, business stakeholders and external vendors.
- You have experience supporting applications built using technologies such as .NET, React, JavaScript, SQL and related frameworks.
- Your understanding of end-to-end application architecture enables you to effectively diagnose and resolve issues.
- You'll have experience working with ITIL processes across incident, problem and change management.
- You're familiar with release, change and application support practices within complex environments.
- You have exposure to Agile delivery environments and software development lifecycle practices.
- Your background may include experience within the superannuation or financial services industry.
- You'll hold, or be interested in obtaining, ITIL Foundation certification.
