Join our dynamic and trusted team. The Junction Neighbourhood Centre (JNC) has been supporting people and communities in Eastern and Inner Sydney for over 50 years. JNC provides a diverse range of services and programs for the local communities, with a focus on people who are socially isolated, disadvantaged and vulnerable. We offer local place-based services and work with older people, families, people experiencing Domestic and Family Violence as well as the broader community. The focus of JNC’s work is strengthening local communities and creating connections. We have community centres in Maroubra, Glebe and Bondi Junction which provide community information and places for the community to meet and participate in a wide range of groups, classes and programs.
About the role
This is a broad and varied communications role working collaboratively with team members to promote our local services, raise awareness of our brand and contribute to the growth of our support base. It is a hands on role working across all channels, from our website, social media and newsletters. Three days a week, you will bring creativity, strategic thinking, and attention to detail to a communications function that supports a vibrant, local NGO.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the CEO and Leadership Group to develop and implement the JNC’s communications and marketing strategies and plans
- Create content across written, visual, and digital channels for diverse audiences
- Manage JNC’s website, social media, email communications, and brand assets
- Monitor and report on communications performance to inform continuous improvement
- Collaborate with internal teams to promote JNC and it’s programs and community events.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for a communications specialist who is creative, values driven, enjoys working in a dynamic team environment in a hands-on role. You will bring the following skills and experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications or a related field
- Proven ability to implement and monitor communications strategies
- Previous hands-on experience in a broad communications role including storytelling, social media, website management and content development
- Understanding of marketing concepts in relation to the community sector and an ability to connect with different audiences
- Experience in embedding and maintaining the brand across different platforms and stakeholders
- Creative, with an eye for what makes effective communication
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills and high level written communication skills with an eye for detail
- Problem solving and time management skills, with ability to work independently, and manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Self-directed, solutions focused and proactive
- Demonstrated IT proficiency across a range of social media platforms, design applications, EDM applications and Microsoft Office
