Full time | Brisbane | Interior Design - Residential

Support beautifully resolved residential interiors within a collaborative design studio.

At Carr, great design is shaped by curiosity, rigour and collaboration. We’re seeking a Graduate Interior Designer to support our Residential Interiors team across concept design, documentation, scheduling and project presentation. Working closely with senior team members, you’ll build practical project experience while developing strong technical, visual communication and documentation skills in line with Carr’s design philosophy and standards of excellence.

What you'll do

As our Graduate Interior Designer, you’ll support the following interior design project outcomes:

  • Assisting with conceptual design and planning in line with the Carr design philosophy
  • Supporting space planning, test fitting and schematic design schemes
  • Undertaking research to assist with the technical feasibility of design concepts and project outcomes
  • Assisting with design development presentations and documentation as part of the design process
  • Supporting the preparation of tender and construction documentation packages, including drawings, schedules and accurate project-related documentation
  • Maintaining organised project documentation, files and records
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of products and materials and contributing to the accuracy of Carr’s image and product library
  • Developing positive working relationships with suppliers
  • Assisting with systems improvement and development
  • Contributing to a strong design culture through research, curiosity and active participation in studio knowledge sharing
  • Participating in the promotion of Carr more broadly
  • Adhering to quality control, risk management and company policy requirements, including Carr’s Quality, Safety and Environment System

What you bring

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • 1-2 years’ experience with emerging conceptual design and planning skills, with a genuine interest in residential interior design
  • Ability to manage tasks, files, deadlines and project detail with care and consistency
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and are comfortable working with internal teams and external suppliers
  • Competent in graphic and 3D interior design skills, including Revit, Rhino, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Enjoys research, product and material exploration, and contributing ideas that support design excellence
  • Adaptable to changing project needs and open to learning through feedback and supervision
  • Ability to identify issues and support considered responses as they arise
  • A client-focused approach, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced studio environment
  • Understanding of the importance of quality, deadlines and reliable delivery
  • Developing the confidence to contribute to project programs and meet deadlines under supervision
