Junior Accountant (6 Month Fixed Term Contract - Potential to Go Permanent)
DIDO - Central Queensland
About The Role
Our client operates a large-scale ammonium nitrate production facility in Central Queensland, supplying the resources sector. They're bringing on a Junior Accountant on a 6-month fixed term contract to support the Finance and Commercial team through a period of increased activity tied to a major plant shutdown, with genuine potential for the role to go permanent for the right person. This is an on-site role, with DIDO arrangements and accommodation facilitated.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support the Accounts Payable function, including invoice processing and supplier administration
- Review and reconcile supplier invoices, purchase orders and supporting documentation
- Perform supplier statement reconciliations and chase down discrepancies
- Support month-end accounting processes, including journals, accruals and reporting
- Provide support for shutdown expenditure monitoring and reporting
- Liaise with operational teams, the shutdown crew and suppliers to resolve invoice and payment queries
- Assist with fixed asset and capital expenditure administration
- Pick up general finance admin and ad hoc requests as they land
What We're Looking For
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or Business
- Minimum 2 years' experience in an Accounts Payable, Junior Accountant, Finance Officer or similar accounting role
- Solid Excel skills, comfortable working with large datasets and reconciliations, not just formatting cells
- Experience with an ERP system (Pronto, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and the discipline to keep records accurate under pressure
- Able to juggle competing priorities and hit deadlines when things get busy
- You're not above rolling your sleeves up when the shutdown workload hits
Desirable
- Working towards your CA or CPA
- Experience using Pronto and/or Redmap
- Exposure to a manufacturing, mining or industrial environment
- Exposure to project accounting, capital expenditure or shutdown expenditure management
About The Business
Our client runs a large-scale industrial manufacturing operation in Central Queensland, producing a key input for the mining sector. It's a lean, close-knit team, profitable and established for over two decades, with a strong focus on safety and reliability. In October and November they'll run a major plant shutdown, bringing in several hundred contractors for a seven-week stretch of inspection, maintenance and upgrade work, which is exactly where this role comes in.
