Design Manager | Developer-Builder | Newcastle | Major Mixed-Use Development

An established, privately owned developer-builder is looking to appoint a Design Manager to join their growing team and take ownership of design management across a major mixed-use development in Newcastle.

With almost 40 years’ experience, 44 projects delivered and a pipeline of 10,000+ apartments/dwellings, the business has an established track record across residential, build-to-rent, hotel and mixed-use developments.

A landmark 43-storey mixed-use development comprising:

  • 245 apartments, including 42 affordable
  • 99 co-living units
  • 171-key hotel
  • 3 retail tenancies
  • 3 basement levels

The project is part of the developer’s Newcastle pipeline and represents a significant opportunity to work on a complex, high-profile development.

Reporting into the senior design leadership team, you will lead design management across pre-construction and delivery, working closely with consultants, contractors and internal project teams.

You will be responsible for

  • Leading design coordination, programs and consultant teams
  • Managing design reviews, value management and buildability
  • Driving consultant scopes, fees and engagement
  • Leading design meetings, workshops and project reporting
  • Managing BIM coordination and design deliverables
  • Ensuring statutory, NCC, BCA and DBP Act compliance
  • Supporting approvals, construction certificates and client reviews
  • Driving quality, safety and design outcomes throughout delivery

About You

You will be an experienced Design Manager / Senior Design Manager with a strong background delivering complex residential, mixed-use or large-scale developments.

Experience working for a head contractor or developer-builder is highly regarded, along with strong consultant management, technical coordination and stakeholder skills.
