Special Counsel or Partner Role – Litigation, Insolvency & Recovery

Fogarty Search is partnering with a growing boutique Melbourne firm to appoint an experienced senior lawyer to lead its litigation, insolvency and recovery practice.

The firm has built a reputation for strong, long-term client relationships and practical, commercially focused advice, and offers considerable autonomy to a senior lawyer looking to help shape and grow a practice as the firm continues to expand.

This opportunity will suit a motivated lawyer with at least 10 years' PQE in commercial litigation, ideally gained in a well-regarded mid-tier, large or specialist commercial firm, with strong technical expertise in insolvency, recoveries and enforcement.

The role will involve:

• Leading and overseeing the firm's litigation, insolvency and recovery practice, with matters across all Australian jurisdictions
• Taking responsibility for the strategy and conduct of complex commercial litigation, insolvency and debt recovery matters
• Advising on secured and unsecured recovery, including mortgage enforcement, PPSR issues and priority disputes
• Occasional advice on related lending and security matters, including mortgages, caveats and other security documentation
• Leading, supervising and mentoring a team of lawyers, and maintaining high standards of legal work and client service
• Maintaining strong, proactive relationships with key clients within a fast-paced national portfolio

This is a genuine leadership role, offering the opportunity to take ownership of an established practice, work directly with key clients, and play a meaningful role in its future direction — with an established and consistent stream of work and no expectation of arriving with an existing book of business.
