Spot Trader

A leading developer and operator is seeking a spot trader to join its high-performing trading team. They have a significant and growing portfolio of renewable generation and storage assets across the National Electricity Market (NEM), with a strong pipeline of projects in development.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the optimisation and trading of electricity assets within wholesale electricity markets
• Contribute to bidding, dispatch and short-term trading strategies aligned to portfolio objectives
• Monitor market conditions in real time and assist with trading decisions across spot and ancillary service markets
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to coordinate asset performance and trading outcomes
• Apply and develop automated or algorithmic trading approaches where relevant

Experience

• 1–3 years’ experience in energy trading, trading support, or market operations
• Exposure to energy trading, dispatch, or market operations within electricity markets
• Experience with flexible assets such as battery storage, demand response, or generation optimisation
• Familiarity with automated bidding or algorithmic trading tools
• Strong analytical capability, including use of Python, R, SQL or similar
• Understanding of ancillary service markets and their interaction with trading strategies
