Junior Family Lawyer

We are curremtly recruiting for an established boutique law firm in Melbourne who have a a strong reputation for delivering family law services with integrity, empathy and professionalism and are seeking a Family Lawyer with 1-2 years' PQE to join its growing CBD practice.

Working within a close-knit and supportive team, you will help clients navigate challenging personal circumstances by providing clear advice, compassionate support and strong legal representation.

The opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior Family Lawyer who is looking to develop their career with the support and guidance of experienced practitioners.

You will work across a broad range of family law matters, including parenting disputes, property settlements, divorce applications, financial agreements and family violence matters. The role offers meaningful client contact, court exposure and the opportunity to gradually take greater responsibility for managing files.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with and manage a varied portfolio of family law matters
• Meet with clients, take instructions and provide practical legal advice
• Work on parenting, property, divorce and family violence matters
• Draft applications, affidavits, correspondence, Consent Orders and other court documents
• Undertake legal research and prepare written advice
• Assist with negotiations, mediations and dispute resolution processes
• Appear in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia where appropriate
• Prepare briefs and liaise with barristers and other professionals
• Maintain accurate file records and meet professional and compliance obligations
• Deliver empathetic and professional support throughout the legal process

About you

To be successful, you will have:

• Between one and two years' post-admission experience within family law
• An interest in developing a long-term career in family law
• Sound knowledge of family law legislation and court procedures
• Strong drafting, research and written communication skills
• The confidence to communicate with clients professionally and empathetically
• Good organisation, attention to detail and time-management skills
• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• A collaborative approach and willingness to learn
• Current admission to practise in Australia
