Application Specialist (SAP IS-U FI-CA)

Your new role

You will be responsible for collaborating with business stakeholders and the delivery team to ensure optimal technical solutions and architectural guidance are provided for system and process enhancements.

This role of Senior Application Specialist requires flexibility and the ability to work across multiple topics, teams, platforms, and stakeholders, adapting to evolving priorities and business needs.

In this role you will,

• Conduct architecture reviews in line with agreed plans, assessing compliance with architectural and organizational standards.
• Act as the FI‑CA subject‑matter authority across SAP IS‑U initiatives and platforms.
• Own detailed solutioning for complex FI‑CA processes including postings, clearing, offsets, and reconciliation.
• Lead solution design for initiatives impacting billing, invoicing, payments, refunds, credit, collections, hardship, and concessions.
• Conduct deep functional and financial impact analysis for changes affecting customer balances and ledgers.
• Provide authoritative guidance on FI‑CA configuration, enhancement patterns, and integration design.
• Review and validate FI‑CA solution designs, functional specifications, and build outputs.
• Act as the escalation point for high‑severity FI‑CA issues, including reconciliation breaks, incorrect postings, or financial exposure.
• Design, develop, and implement scalable and effective solutions to meet evolving business requirements.
• Understand end-to-end business processes and the functionality of peripheral systems to deliver robust solutions and resolve issues efficiently.

What you need to succeed

• Extensive hands on experience with SAP IS-U FI-CA in large scale utilities environments.
• Deep expertise in FI-CA concepts, including:
• Contract Accounts and Business Partner integration
• Posting areas, items, clearing and offset logic
• Payments, refunds, disbursements and payment lot processing
• Credit management, dunning, collections, hardship and concessions
• Events framework, reconciliation keys and financial/audit controls
• Business Rules Framework (BRF+)
• CRM processes related to FI-CA
• Strong end to end understanding of billing to cash processes and financial flows.
• Proven ability to resolve complex, high risk financial issues in production environments, with a focus on data integrity and customer impact.
• Strong process and integration knowledge with deep expertise in at least two utility domains.
• Extensive experience delivering utility solutions, including participation in multiple full end to end project lifecycles.
• Demonstrated capability to conduct FIT GAP analysis and lead workshops with Business and IT stakeholders.
• Ability to assess upstream and downstream financial impacts and recommend sound solution options.
• Proven experience working closely with Solution Architects, Developers, and Business SMEs, acting as a trusted design and solution authority.
