Business Intelligence Developer

We’re partnering with an organisation going through significant growth across its data and analytics capability and looking for an experienced Business Intelligence Developer to join the team.

This role will see you working across the broader BI environment, taking business requirements and turning them into well-designed reporting and analytics solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to work across Power BI, Microsoft Fabric and the underlying data layer, while helping the business improve how it accesses, understands and uses its data.

You’ll work as part of a collaborative data team while having plenty of ownership over the solutions you deliver.

What you’ll be doing

• Build end-to-end BI solutions across Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
• Work directly with stakeholders to understand business problems, reporting requirements and key metrics.
• Develop dashboards and reporting solutions that provide clear and actionable insights.
• Design and maintain semantic models to create consistent and trusted data for reporting.
• Develop DAX measures, Power Query transformations and SQL to support reporting requirements.
• Review existing dashboards and models and identify opportunities to improve performance, usability and maintainability.
• Support self-service analytics by making data easier for business users to access and understand.
• Work alongside data engineers and other technical teams to ensure data is structured appropriately for downstream reporting.
• Contribute to BI standards around development, security, governance, deployment and documentation.

What we’re looking for

• Strong commercial experience working as a BI Developer, BI Analyst/Developer or similar.
• Advanced Power BI development experience across dashboards, datasets and semantic models.
• Strong DAX, Power Query and SQL skills.
• Good understanding of dimensional modelling and designing data for analytics and reporting.
• Experience improving the performance of complex Power BI reports and models.
• Understanding of Power BI security, governance and deployment practices.
• Exposure to tools such as Tabular Editor would be highly regarded.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to take a business requirement through to a completed BI solution.
• Comfortable working across both technical and business teams in a collaborative environment.
