About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a commercially minded Senior Financial Analyst to join a highly respected Australian organisation operating within a specialised and complex manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this position acts as the second-in-command within the finance team and plays a critical role in delivering technical accounting expertise, financial reporting leadership, and strategic commercial insights.

Duties

  • Act as the delegate for the Financial Controller, providing leadership and finance support across the broader function.
  • Lead the preparation of annual statutory financial statements, year-end reporting schedules, and sustainability reporting requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance sophisticated financial models to support business planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
  • Perform scenario analysis, sensitivity modelling, and financial forecasting activities.
  • Manage and review taxation obligations, including income tax, FBT, GST/BAS, payroll tax, and associated reporting requirements.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring reporting accuracy, balance sheet integrity, and strong financial controls.
  • Deliver commercial analysis and recommendations to support investment appraisals, business initiatives, pricing strategies, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Develop business cases and financial evaluations to support customer negotiations, contract reviews, and commercial opportunities.
  • Analyse profitability across customers, products, services, and business activities, identifying opportunities to improve performance.
  • Provide insight into financial risks, opportunities, and emerging trends to support management decision-making.
  • Assist with technical accounting assessments and implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Contribute to Board, Executive Leadership, Audit & Risk Committee, and management reporting requirements.
  • Support financial systems, ERP enhancements, and business intelligence initiatives to improve reporting capability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across finance, operations, commercial, and support functions to drive business outcomes.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Senior Financial Analyst, Finance Business Partner, Commercial Analyst, or similar role.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise with experience preparing statutory financial statements and complex financial reporting.
  • Advanced financial modelling, forecasting, budgeting, and commercial analysis capabilities.
  • Experience delivering meaningful insights that influence business performance and strategic decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of taxation compliance and reporting obligations.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling, dashboards, and data analysis.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and business intelligence tools.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and perform effectively within a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CA or CPA qualification (or working towards completion) will be highly regarded.
  • Experience within manufacturing, industrial, or asset-intensive environments will be advantageous.
