Senior Underground Mine Geologist

Austcorp Executive is partnering with a national mining company to recruit a Senior Mine Geologist - Underground to join the team for the continuation of existing projects and to contribute to the launch of new exploration programs.

You will act as the key technical link between Geology, Mining Operations, Geotechnical, and Technical Services. This is a role for an experienced geologist ready to take greater ownership of technical decision-making, people leadership, and resource reporting.

As the Senior Underground Mine Geologist your duties will include:

• Manage the integrity of the underground geological model, ensuring it accurately reflects grade, structure, and ore continuity
• Set the technical standards and workflows for grade control, sampling, and ore delineation, and audit adherence across the team
• Provide senior technical input into mine planning, stope design, and sequencing decisions, resolving complex geology-related challenges.
• Lead root-cause investigation of grade or tonnage reconciliation variances and drive corrective action
• Supervise, mentor and develop the Underground Geologist(s) and geology technicians, including rosters, workload, and technical training
• Communicate overall performance, findings, challenges and status of the underground geological landscape

Your experience and background will include

• Tertiary qualification in Geology - AusIMM and/or Competent Person eligibility highly regarded
• A proven track record in supervising and leading underground geology teams and processes for Australian hardrock underground mining
• Sound working knowledge of geological databases and modelling software (e.g. Vulcan, Micromine, Leapfrog, or Datamine).
• Strong data validation, mapping, modelling, reconciliation and reporting skills.
• Preferred - Sound understanding of JORC Code requirements and resource/reserve reporting processes (Gold, Copper, Nickel)
