Associate or Senior Architect

We’re seeking a highly capable and technically driven person to join a leading design practice delivering some of Melbourne and Australia’s most complex and high-profile projects.

Lead technical Delivery of products and champion documentation standards across the office.

THE ROLE

You will work across the full project lifecycle, from design development and technical resolution through to detailed documentation and construction delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the office’s technical documentation reviews and supporting the consistent delivery of high-quality documentation
• Leading architectural design development and detailed documentation packages
• Resolving complex technical and coordination issues
• Coordinating structural, civil, MEP, security and specialist consultants
• Developing detailed Revit/BIM documentation
• Reviewing designs for buildability, compliance and construction practicality
• Managing architectural packages, deliverables and documentation
• Working within D&C, design-and-build, alliance and other complex delivery models
• Working directly with clients, contractors and consultants
• Providing construction phase services, including RFIs, shop drawing reviews and site inspections
• Leading and mentoring junior architects and documentation staff
• Leading technical workshops, design reviews and design optimisation
• Taking ownership of architectural packages from design development through to delivery
• Working closely with the delivery team to implement and continuously improve documentation processes, systems and technical standards
• Maintaining an active understanding of industry-relevant standards, practices, technologies and emerging approaches
• Contributing to the ongoing innovation of the practice’s technical and documentation methodologies

TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP

This role will suit an architect who wants to have influence beyond individual projects.

You will play an important role in strengthening the practice’s technical capability, helping establish and maintain documentation standards, reviewing project outputs, improving workflows and ensuring our approach continues to respond to current industry standards, construction methodologies and emerging technologies.

You’ll work closely with project and delivery teams to identify opportunities for better coordination, improved documentation quality, greater efficiency and more innovative technical solutions.

ABOUT YOU

You will ideally have:

• 10–15+ years of architectural experience
• Proven experience delivering large-scale and technically complex projects
• Strong design development, documentation and construction delivery experience
• Strong Revit and BIM capability
• Excellent understanding of construction, detailing and buildability
• Strong multidisciplinary coordination skills
• Experience working with clients, consultants and contractors
• Experience leading project packages and mentoring junior team members
• Excellent technical documentation and problem-solving skills
• Experience with D&C, alliance or other collaborative delivery models
• A practical and collaborative approach to complex technical challenges
• An interest in technical leadership, documentation standards and continuous improvement
