Senior Power Systems Engineer (PSCAD / EMT)

Perth | 6+ month secondment with an NSP | Onsite

We’re partnering with a major WA network operator to bring an experienced power systems engineer into their connections team in Perth.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work across both RMS and EMT workflows on connection projects at every stage, from customer options reports and enquiry studies through to application assessments, GPS assessments and Access Offers.

• Running dynamic studies in PowerFactory to support GPS, Access Offer and connection assessment work
• Delivering PSCAD studies
• Building, adapting and validating PSCAD models, not just running existing ones
• Peer reviewing studies and technical reports from within the team and from external parties
• Working with developers, OEMs and consultants on model and study issues during the connection process

What you’ll bring

• Hands-on experience in both PowerFactory RMS and PSCAD EMT studies, ideally gained in an NSP, market operator or connections consultancy environment
• A track record of EMT studies on generator connection projects, with recent examples where you led the PSCAD work
• Experience developing PSCAD models yourself
• SMIB-style EMT study experience, either performing or reviewing
• Solid working knowledge of GPS requirements and the connection process
• Experience dealing directly with NSPs, AEMO, OEMs or consultants during connection studies
• Experience peer reviewing power system studies and technical reports

This is a hands-on technical role. The client wants an engineer embedded in the team who can add real EMT/PSCAD capability. It isn’t a management or stakeholder-lead position, so it suits someone who wants to spend their time doing the studies.
