City: Melbourne, Victoria
Salary: A$1.00 - A$85,000 / yr
Contract type: Full time

Help shape the future of licensing across 250+ venues

Australian Venue Co. is one of Australia's largest hospitality groups, operating a diverse portfolio of pubs, bars and restaurants across Australia and New Zealand.

As our business continues to grow, we're looking for a Licensing Advisor to join our Licensing team. This is an opportunity to play an important role in keeping our venues operating legally, confidently and commercially - while helping new and existing venues navigate complex licensing requirements.

You'll work closely with venue teams, Operations, Property, Legal, People & Culture and external regulators. No two days will be the same, with the role combining regulatory applications, stakeholder management, problem-solving, advice and continuous improvement.

What you'll be responsible for

You'll manage licensing and regulatory matters from initial request through to approval, helping the business understand what is required and how to move forward.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and lodging liquor licence, permit, registration and approval applications
  • Managing applications, renewals, transfers, variations and regulatory submissions
  • Providing practical, commercially focused advice to venues and internal stakeholders
  • Liaising with liquor licensing authorities, councils, police and other regulatory bodies
  • Monitoring application progress, deadlines, risks and outstanding requirements
  • Supporting venue openings, refurbishments, ownership changes and operational changes
  • Maintaining accurate licensing registers, records and documentation
  • Preparing reports, briefs and updates for senior stakeholders
  • Interpreting legislation and explaining requirements in clear, practical language
  • Monitoring regulatory changes and advising the business on potential impacts
  • Identifying opportunities to improve licensing processes, systems and ways of working
  • Supporting licensing projects and other compliance initiatives as required

    What we're looking for

You may come from a liquor licensing, regulatory, hospitality, gaming, local government, legal administration or compliance background. Most importantly, you'll be confident managing detail, building relationships and finding practical solutions.

    You'll ideally bring:

    • Experience managing regulatory or licensing applications from start to finish
    • Exposure to liquor licensing, hospitality, gaming, local government or a similar regulatory environment
    • The ability to interpret legislation, policies and regulatory requirements
    • Strong written communication and report-writing skills
    • Excellent organisation and the ability to manage competing deadlines
    • Confidence communicating with regulators, venues and senior stakeholders
    • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
    • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team
    • Strong computer skills and confidence learning new systems
    • High levels of integrity, discretion and confidentiality
    • Familiarity with licensing frameworks across Australia and New Zealand will be highly regarded

    Why join Australian Venue Co.?

This is a chance to build your career in a high-growth hospitality business where your work has a visible and practical impact.

    You'll have the opportunity to:

    • Work across a diverse portfolio of more than 250 venues
    • Gain exposure to multiple Australian and New Zealand jurisdictions
    • Partner with senior stakeholders and operational leaders
    • Support new venue openings, acquisitions and business growth
    • Build valuable experience across liquor licensing and regulatory compliance
    • Contribute to better systems, processes and ways of working
    • Be part of a supportive team that values expertise, initiative and collaboration

If you're someone who enjoys solving complex problems, building strong relationships and helping businesses operate with confidence, we'd love to hear from you.
