Electrical Engineer - HV Primary Design

Your new company

You will join an established engineering consultancy delivering complex energy and infrastructure projects across Western Australia. With a strong pipeline of work, they are seeking an Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer with primary design experience to join their Perth team.

Your new role

Working within a multidisciplinary energy team, you will support the delivery of high-voltage substation and electrical infrastructure projects. Depending on your level of experience, you will contribute to or lead primary design packages and work closely with clients, utilities, contractors and internal engineering teams.

Your responsibilities will include

• Delivering HV substation primary design packages up to 330kV
• Preparing layouts, general arrangements and key electrical diagrams
• Specifying primary plant equipment, including transformers, switchgear, instrument transformers, surge arresters and busbar systems
• Completing engineering studies and calculations across earthing, insulation coordination, lightning protection and conductor design
• Supporting technical reviews, design assurance and project approvals
• Providing engineering input throughout construction, testing and commissioning
• Working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, practical and constructable solutions
• At a senior level, providing technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and designers

What you’ll need to succeed

• A degree in Electrical Engineering
• Experience in HV substation primary design
• Knowledge of primary plant equipment, engineering calculations and design documentation
• Experience working across transmission, distribution, utility, mining or industrial networks
• Understanding of Australian Standards and relevant industry requirements
• Western Power project or standards experience will be highly regarded
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• For the Senior Engineer level, demonstrated experience leading designs, technical reviews and project outcomes
