Project Manager - Steel Structures

NORTHSIX is partnering with a well established business specialising in steel structures, fabrication and erection across the engineering and infrastructure space, looking to appoint a Project Manager to lead project delivery across Victoria, with a clear pathway into a State Manager, Engineering position.

In this leadership role, you will operate as a strong Project Manager, working alongside existing Project Managers whilst leading a team of engineers across multiple projects.

Starting as a Project Manager allows you to learn how the business operates before stepping up into the State Manager role.

You will bring strong experience in steel structures and erection, and use it to guide the delivery of complex structural projects.

A key part of the role is maintaining existing builder relationships and building new ones to drive the business’s growth.

The role

Reporting to the Directors, you will lead project delivery and be accountable for your team, your projects and their performance across the state.

• Lead, develop and mentor a team of 10 to 15 engineers, Project Managers, Project and Site Engineers and graduate engineers
• Operate as a experienced Project Manager in your field, leading by example across your projects
• Drive a strong leadership culture across your direct and indirect reports
• Work closely with Project Managers to guide the delivery of steel structures and erection works, resolve issues and keep projects on track
• Provide technical leadership on structural steel, erection methodology and site installation
• Maintain and strengthen existing builder relationships, while building new relationships with major builders, head contractors and key industry partners
• Work alongside the Directors on strategy, tenders and business growth
• Hold accountability for project performance across safety, quality, cost and program
• Manage budgets, forecasting and P&L for your projects
• Align delivery across site, workshop and fabrication teams

About you

• Significant experience in steel structures and the erection of structures is essential
• A strong Project Manager with the leadership capability to grow into a state level role
• Proven experience leading engineering or project teams, including leading through other managers
• Strong background across structural steel fabrication, site erection and industrial or infrastructure projects
• A track record of maintaining and growing senior builder relationships, and winning new ones
• Strong commercial understanding, including P&L, forecasting and cost control
• 10+ years experience in engineering, construction or infrastructure, with a clear focus on steel structures
• An engineering degree is highly regarded
